October 29, 2007Something on Socks
October 9, 2007After discussing sock knitting with some friends, I find out that
- toe up socks are not very well known
- heels are worked mostly with flap and gusset, even if some know the inserted heel.
Here some sock knitting links: (a lot from knitty.com, my preferred knitting source)
- toe up socks: knitty.com with details for the toe, another one and yet another one.
- video how to knit socks on two circulars and the magic loop
- knittingtwo socks at the same time
- magic loop and two socks
- short row heel tutorials here and here (and I am sure you figure out for yourself how to conceal the wraps – if not watch it here
- finally the toe up sock on my todo list: Alice’s Illusion Socks
Enjoy !
Cat Bordhi on Elba
October 2, 2007There was not much time to knit with two toddlers, a great beach and other fun things to do. But I managed the two pair of learning socks of New Pathways for Sock Knitters.I liked the Little Coriolis best it was fun to knit and has a nice shape. The sky architecture seems a bit clumsy to me – for baby feet may be just right, but I don’t think I use it for my socks, even if I have a rather high instep. I hope the difference shows on the picture.

Luckily it was warm at Elba and I could wear my top. And I really did wear it a lot;-) I started to knit it end of last summer, put it away during the winter, forgot it and finished it just before the mittens above.
