Good laugh

January 26, 2008

I had a really good time browsing through What Not To Knit and What Not To Crochet. The absolute highlight were Tampon Cozies, I laughed until tears started… But I agree with one comment, that would be some gag gifts.

Cheshire Cat Socks

Finished! As usual the second took longer than the first one. I think this illusion knitting technique has some potential. I already have some ideas. But would choose something that is more visible, like a hat or mittens.I must admit that even if I like the look of short row heels, I find the good old flap one much easier to work. Probably because I am so used to it. But I don’t like to frog – and at least the first heel I had to work twice because I got all tangled in these wraps…

Sewing

January 8, 2008

I used some child free days last week to sew again. I used to do it a lot, but that is ages ago. I still had some fabric (100% linen) and when I saw this simple pattern, I just had to take the sewing machine out of the box.

Linen pants

Even if I really like doing stuff myself, it is not really the solution to this problem.

Happy New Year

January 6, 2008

It was a hectic 2007 I just hope 2008 gets easier. Im glad that I could start 2008 with another FO – another hat for N. just ready for his birthday. I had to wash it in the machine to felt it slightly and to linen it to make it fit. But now it is the favorite hat of N.

I also made some updates on ravelry. I really like to browse other knitting blogs, I think the idea of ravelry very cool but sometimes I can’t help thinking that this prevents me from actual knitting.
