Somewhere I must have pics of the color card… go to look for them…

You might call me crazy

February 9, 2009

but I just couldn’t resist. Last wednesday I went with fourchette and her friend to lang yarns in reiden. Yarn sale. And that’s the result:

(Sorry for the bad picture, but the colors are more real without flash. And I couldn’t wait til the next sunny day…)

That’s yarn for three projects! I mean three sweater projects. Nobody knows when I am actually going to knit this, but then, just one after another.

I couldn’t really enjoy my findings, because – stupid, stupid, I know, I left one of my favorite knitting books in the store. Knitting Nature. But the ladies at Lang Yarns were kind enough to send it back to me! Thank you!

Other Fiber Related Activities

Forgot to mention that I also have dyed some yarn this september. With plants. That meant, first to treat the yarn with Alaun. So don’t get any illusions about no chemistry when dyeing with plants. But Alaun is ok, I also wanted some Kaliumbichromid (or whatever that’s called in english) but got a bit scared after the pharmacist read all the side effects. And how I have to treat this drug. So i decided to go with Alaun. I used goldenrod, red clover, leaves and shells from walnut. Unfortunately my camera is not very good with yellow and brown, so no pictures so far (I am working on it though).

Knit Guerilla Art aka Knit Graffiti

August 22, 2008

I encountered knitting as guerilla art in the book below (thanks nchenga for bringing it to Switzerland). This evening, I stumbled over this.

guerilla art kit by nchenga.

I really like the idea of putting knitted stuff in the environment. I didn’t see any knit graffity in Basel so far, but who knows, may be I just didn’t know where to look for.
