But I worked the thumb as follows. After increasing the amount of stitches needed for the thumb, I knit the thumb stitches with a spare thread, usually in a different color. There are probably descriptions on the net as well. Not sure if that answers your question if not, just ask again! I don't know <i>Folk Mittens</i> though.
